Hi! I am writing a thesis as part of my final year in University and they want a particular referencing style which I cannot seem to find under the standard citation styles. I have been trying to edit an existing style but have only managed in wasting time and making things worse! An example of the style I require is displayed below, could somehow who knows what there doing help me in creating this style. Thank you! 1. ABSI EG, SHEPHERD JP: A comparison of morbidity following the removal of lower third molars by the lingual split and surgical bur methods. Int J Oral Maxillofac Surg-(In italics) 1993; 22: 149-153. Everything in Times new roman font References In alphabetical order using the author’s last name. All author names are listed, author(s): last name+first name initials in small capitals with Suffix : title of the article in normal times new roman font with suffix . journal’s name in italics journal’s year; issue: page number 78-89. In the body of text, at the end of a sentence the number of the citation is written between square brackets in superscript with individual square brackets: [1][2][3] Thank you Regards Ali

export bibtex sucks honestly

I have a large library of citations. I decided to use mendeley because I thought that it supported bibtex. It is totally inadequate, unfortunately. The problem is the citation key. It is NOT ACCEPTABLE to use authoryear, because I have multiple cases where I have multiple citations of the same author in the same year. The solution, which is idiotic, by mendeley is to add a letter. Honestly, folks, does anyone there actually do research work? If the letter changes, your citations become totally screwed up. I have no idea HOW mendeley makes the decision to assign letters, and since I don't know how it does that, it's useless. In my case, I have my CV with author-year-firstpageno-lastpagno to ensure that the citation keys do not change. Mendeley does not support a user-defined citation key. This means that it is, really, unusable for large document collections. You need to support a far more sophisticated document key/citation key approach, plus the comments about failure to export this and that indicate that mendeley is simply not ready for actual research work. I am going back to jabref, where I decide what the document/citation key looks like, and I can define this correctly and consistently. I am not recommending Mendeley for others at this point. I spent $110 for a year's subscription to the on-line storate, and I also spent a fair amount of time resolving ambiguities in references. Now this all seems like a waste of time.

I update Mendeley to 1.10.3 automatically from 1.10.0. After the updating, every time when I exit word (2011 for Mac OS), a dialog pop up say 'Whether or not save change on Mendeley.dot?' I reinstall the Mendeley and even the MS Office. This dialog still pop up. How to cope with this problem? My email: cesgf@mail.sysu.edu.cn

Importing references

Greetings I have done a little research and also installed the desktop app (and the Libre Office plugin). However I don't see a quick way to import references I've made in my word proecessors. I only see a way to drag and drop PDFs, to enter manually, or to import straight from online databases (like PubMed eg). Is there a way to import dozens if not hundreds of references from MS Word or some other word processor? Muntasir muntasir27@gmail.com

How to I import government documents with correct AMA formatting? Then, how do I retrieve them? I've repeatedly used the bookmark bar function "save to mendeley" and it repeatedly has told me I've already imported a document, but I can't see it no matter what search function I use and I can't import it into a document. This is urgent. A grant proposal just fell into my lap and it's due tomorrow! Thanks for your help!

I am user of LibreOffice (LO) 4x and Apache OpenOffice (AOO) 4x in Gnome Ubuntu 13.10. I installed Mendeley plugin 1.10.3 in both, but it is not working in AOO. It is invisible. I am using both processors because they have some differences in the tools for edition of large documents. For me is very important to use Mendeley in both text processors. Thank you for your help.

exclude doi from PLOS ONE citation bibliography

Hello, I am using PLOS ONE reference style and would like to remove doi details. I have read that it is probably embedded in the reference style itself, so I tried to use the citation editor. BUT, when the PLOS ONE details are open, you can see that DOI are not included in the PLOS ONE style by default, so there is nothing to edit manually. Would you have any suggestion how to delete DOI information, other than deleting in one by one for each paper manually in the Desktop manager? Thanks i advance for your help!

Trouble finding a citation style

Hi! I am trying to find the citation style that lists all authors up to seven, using seven and “et al.” when the number is greater than seven. Example: Miquel JF, Covarrubias C, Villaroel L, Mingrone G, Greco AV, Puglielli L, Carvallo P, et al . Genetic epidemiology of cholesterol cholelithiasis among Chilean Hispanics, Amerindians, and Maoris. Gastroenterology 1998; 115: 937-46. Does anyone know which journal uses it? I need It for Annals of Hepatology, but this journal is not included in the citation styles in Mendeley.

Number of authors shown in bibliography

I need the full list of authors in the bibliography (Im using Harvard Style 1), and not et al after 4 authors. Many, many people seem to have the same problem but all the Mendeley answers are about using some very confusing style editor. If this is such a simple thing and so many people have the issue, why cant you give out clear instructions on how to fix? Ive tried the editor, but just cant seem to find where the et al thing can be changed. Please, could your answer SPECIFICALLY point to what needs to be changed? It will save headaches to a lot of your users, Ilan

Mendeley doesn't fully sync

I've been experiencing this for a week now. It used to give an error message, now the message is gone, but Mendeley still stops syncing at the "76% Retrieving Annotations (0% fetched)" stage. As you might imagine, I am really blocked in my work, since I can not sync annotations among computers... Any fix coming? Thanks, Daniel.

Capatilize Rename

$

Dear Mendeley, I often use the Rename function in Mendeley to change the names of a whole batch of articles. Because I prefer all the files on my computer to be capatilized, I use an external program to Capatilize all words in the names of all my files. Mendeley does not like this, however, as it recognises the new, capatilized files as new, duplicate files. Would it be possible to add the option inside your rename-function to automatically capatilize all words in the file-name? As such, there is no need to use an external program to Capatilize the files, and I will not run into the problem just described. I hope this was clear, and I hope it's not hard to implement. exporting highlighted text

Hi, I'm aware there have been requests in the past about being able to export highlighted sections of text - will this functionality be available soon? It would be really helpful to have a list of highlighted text similar to the list of annotations that appears alongside the pdf. I believe some pdf readers have this type of functionality but I would like to stick to using Mendeley if possible!

Error using Mendeley 1.10.3 (or 1.10.2 or 1.10.1) with Word 2011 (14.3.9)

Hello, As other users have mentioned, I am getting an error when trying to use the plugin for Word. I'm running OSX 10.8.5, Word 2011 (14.3.9) and have tried using Mendeley versions 1.10.1-3. After installing the plugin through Mendeley, the error occurs when opening word. It displays "Compile error in hidden module: Mendeley". Let me know if any other info would be useful. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Justin
