How to add PDF file to existing astract?
Hello,
I moved a bunch of abstracts over form an older version of End Note. All the abstracts imported just fine.
Now, I want to be able to add the original PDF files from my hard drive to Mendeley. I tried dragging and dropping on the Mendeley abstract of the article. But, it just makes a new entry with the article.
How do I add my PDF to an existing abstract?
Thanks
Joe

files are lost after changing email address
Hi there
After I had changed my mail address I had to login to my desktop Mendeley with the new email adress. Then, the database was synchronized anew and after that all the links to the files on my desktop computer are lost. How can I get these back? And are my annotations, etc. somewhere? Or is this work ALL LOST?

Error: "Host not found" when trying to connect
In the Welcome window, when trying to connect with my email and password, the following message appears in red:
"An error occurded when contacting Madeley. Details: Host not found"
I checked my connection settings, I guess it's a problem with the proxy but I don't know how to get rid of it.
Thanks in advance!

Wrong references
Dear Mendeley,
I am now finishing up a paper for which I used mendeley to do the references. Unfortunately, a lot of them are cited incorrectly by Mendeley.
For instance:
Alogliptin after acute coronary syndrome in patients with type 2 diabetes.
White WB, Cannon CP, Heller SR, Nissen SE, Bergenstal RM, Bakris GL, Perez AT, Fleck PR, Mehta CR, Kupfer S, Wilson C, Cushman WC, Zannad F; EXAMINE Investigators.N Engl J Med. 2013 Oct 3;369(14):1327-35
Is cited by mendeley as:
White W, Cannon C (2013) Alogliptin after acute coronary syndrome in patients with type 2 diabetes. … Engl. J. …
This is after a title search. Many reference are incorrect like this. For me, it seems like Mendeley cannot make a proper connection with pubmed to use to correct references. Did I miss anything? Or does mendeley still need (many) upgrades to fix these problem?
Kind regards,
A research physician, who still likes mendeley and hopes for a solution.

Vancouver format - Correct citation
I Mendeley support group.
I have a problem with Vancouver format and don´t know how to fix it.
Mendeley make the bibliography:
Bosniak MA. The Bosniak Renal Cyst Classification: 25 Years Later. Radiology. 2012;262(3):781–5.
I would like the citation to be:
Bosniak MA. The Bosniak Renal Cyst Classification: 25 Years Later. Radiology 2012;262:781–5.
Without "." after Radiology and without "issue"
Kind regards,

LibreOffice - Export to Word keeping citation fields?
Hi,
I'm using LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 in Ubuntu 12.04, and Mendeley Desktop 1.10.3.
I want to export a document to Word, but keeping the citation fields in order to be able to modify them or insert the bibliography in Word. Is that possible? Nowadays Mendeley just exports a plain .doc file without fields.
Thanks!

citations replaced in print preview
Strangely, if I either look at the document in print preview, or simply click on the citations three times, the citations disappear and are replaced with date and time of citation, i.e. "Cahill, Family: A Christian Social Perspective, 12." becomes "04/02/2014 14:35". I have not yet printed, to see if it prints incorrectly too.
Am I doing something wrong/is there a fix, or is this a bug?
(Replaced angle brackets with square brackets to post, not that it makes much difference... The problem of inserting italics into a Word document remains, but I see from other posts that you are working on that issue.)

Why does Mendeley Desktop perpetually carry out tasks, and why no solutions from Mendeley Support?
I've been using Mendeley Desktop for years now and one of it's most annoying 'features' is the fact that it perpetually carries out tasks:
"Completed X of Y tasks"
Sometimes X=Y. Maybe I'll click the little 'x' next to it... ok, that does absolutely nothing. Maybe clicking 'sync' will help. Oh, no, now I have Y+1 tasks, great! Maybe if I just close Mendeley and re-open it that will sort things. Oh great, it's crashed - send report. Oh and hey, here come the tasks again.
This is a relatively regular occurrence. Most of the time when this happens it seriously slows down my machine and Mendeley becomes unusable. It usually happens when I either add a PDF to my watched folder or delete something from my library. I have experienced it on various machines and on both Windows 7 and XP.
Clearly I'm not the only person having this problem, but Mendeley Support has been passive aggressive on the issue, offering little guidance and closing all relevant threads without resolve:

How to manipulate batch file titles
I have a huge library of PDFs I am trying to bring into Mendeley. Over the years, I have painstakingly named every PDF file with the right information. Now, when I bring the files into Mendeley, it goes through the automatic detail extraction process and tried to "guess" the right information. It usually gets it wrong, and always ignores the file title. I am looking for a way to manipulate this that would not require me to manually rename every single document in the library from the file names. Is there a way to tell Mendeley to take the title from the filename? Is there a way to edit the Mendeley titles in batch? Is there something I can do with the metadata before importing the files that would make Mendeley be smarter about guessing the right titles?

Index Medicus for CCI
I am submitting to Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions (CCI) which is requesting "Index Medicus" format. Can someone please send me the link to this so that I can import it? I have tried to use the Visual CSL editor to reformat another style but I'm not getting this to work. The Circulation citation style seems identical with the exception that the in-text citation needs to be numerals in parenthesis (instead of a superscript in Circulation). I am ready to submit this manuscript and this is delaying my submission.
thank you very much.

Save changes to Mendeley-1.10.3?
Since updating to Mendeley 1.10.3, upon closing any MS Word document, even a blank one, I am asked if I wish to save changes to Mendeley-1.10.3. Choosing yes or no does not appear to make any difference. The functionality of Mendeley does not seem to be otherwise impaired, but the repeated prompts are frustrating. I am running Windows 7, 64-bit, Microsoft Office 2007.
I have noticed a number of other users posting about this issue, but have seen no solution so far. I have tried reinstalling the MS Word plugin, manually editing the Mendeley-1.10.3.dotm template, and deleting and restoring the template, all to no avail. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.
