This is more like error and fix report that I found by experimenting but couldn't easily find an answer for so I thought I would share. I wanted to try MS word plug so I installed it on fully functional Mendeley desktop on windows 7 32-bit word 2010 professional plus but it didn't work. Error given was unable to start Mendeley desktop, try starting manually. Some of the fixes that I found on the forum but didn't work were
- enabling/disabling macros under Trust settings in MS word
- adding a rule to allow all connection in firewall (windows and comodo)
- un-installing then re-installing plug-in by deleting .dotm file in C:\Users\Fady\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
- accessing localhost:50002 from web browser, changing port to 50001 and checking access from browser
The fix for me was to NOT run mendeley as administrator. I went to properties under compatibility tab uncheck "run as administrator" and voila it not works and I see the toolbar to insert citations from my library.

Alt+M no longer working on my MS Work plugin
Hi,
I just updated my Mendeley desktop to version 1.10.3 and now I am unable to insert citations in MS Word using the Alt+M key as it used to work before. Now I have to click on the "Insert Citation" button manually and enter the search words. It is working, but is a little tedious to navigate to the button everytime while writing. I tried uninstalling and re - installing the MS word plugin several times :), but it just hasn't done the trick. I am using the MS Word 2007 on Windows 7 operating system. Is there any way to fix it?

Removing dot separating short journal title and publication year.
Hi,
I am trying to remove the dot after short journal title, so there is only a spce between it an publication year.
I have removed the dots in the short journal title by unchecking "include periods" in the Mendeley desktop citation styles window. But it does not remove the last dot. I can't figure out how to do it in the online csl manager.
Any suggestions?

set which file opens if grouped together?
Hi is it possible to control which file opens automatically when you group files together? Seems to be the first file always. Would be good to be able to control that easily.

Import from PubMed
When importing references from PubMed the truncated page numbers are stored within Mendeley and hence used when citing (e.g. pages: 123-9). I believe this is a bug? The metadata for page numbers from PubMed is in truncated form but other reference managers such as endnote and zotero convert this to whole page numbers (ie. 123-129).

I'm using Mendeley on word for Mac. Sometimes I get this error three or four times in a row, and the fifth time it will just put in the reference. Is it the problem that I'm working with 2 word documents opened at the same time?

citation style
Hello,
I noticed that the Brain citation style isn't perfectly matched to the requirements of the journal. For instance, when there is more than one article with same first author, articles written bij the first author alone should be mentioned first in the bibliography, followed by articles with two authors and then the articles with three or more authors.
Is there a way to implement this requirement in Mendeley myself?

information about choice premium packet
I have a couple of questions concerning the premium package
The situation is as follows.
I work for a medium sized company (45 individuals) and we would like to use Mendeley.
The question is which package do we take?
1)The data should be excluded from public access (viewing)
2)should be able to create 50 different groups
3)All 45 people should be able to enter all the groups and use the word-tool to search within those groups.
4)Only 8 individuals should be able to add papers to all the groups.The rest should only be able to view papers and use the word-tool
Do we have to use the package with 45 collaborators or kan we take the package with 8 collaborators?

All downloads opens in Mendeley
All pdfs, not just the relevant paper-pdfs, open in Mendeley during downloads. I want to choose freely which ones I import. This is superannoying.
My question is basically same as here: http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/1467379-how-do-i-stop-all-pdfs-being-automatically-downloaded-into-mendeley
I couldn't really find the answer helpful, therefore I repeat the question. I have checked that the pdfs should, as a standard, open in preview. Also, I have not enabled watch folder. What do I do to control the downloads?
I'm btw a Mac-user.

I have files organized in PhD/ABC/paperCat1, PhD/ABC/paperCat2, PhD/ABC/paperCat3
I want to add all files in Mendeley software in same organization. means I do not want to see all documents under unsorted folder but in folders as I import.
Is there any way to import like this?

My university requires that the bibliography looks like this:

Using the Harvard style as a base, I have managed to change the majority of the style to suit the requirements (using the visual editor), but I have been struggling to figure out how to add the "Sage Journals". In the guidelines given by the university they call that the "name of the collection".
Basically, if I have downloaded an article from an online collection e.g. "Science Direct" or "Sage Journals", the website name (I suppose you'd call it that) needs to come up.
Hope I have explained my problem properly!

Sort library by date file last accessed/updated
Is it possible to sort the library by date the file was last accessed?
When I've been reading a lot of material and then need to review it, this would be really useful.
Sort by date last annotated/updated (i.e. annotation, note, updated bibliog details) would be as or more useful.
If this isn't possible yet it would be a great new feature.

conference report
I want to insert a conference paper reference, I can only find 'conference proceedings' option for this. But in this type I cannot add the name of the conference and date etc.
I also tried to add this at 'options' but no name or date kan be checked on.

Word can't close with to Mendeley-1.10.3
I just updated Mendeley today.
Since then I cannot close word normally anymore. It crashes after not responding for several seconds. I removed the Word Plugin using Mendeley and hooray everything was back to normal again. However reinstalling the plugin caused the same problem again even on blank files.
I am running Word 2010 on WinXP.
I hope you can fix that soon.
