When I try to sync from the desktop it gets 33% through and then I get this error message: An unknown error has occurred, Mendeley has been notified. (EID: merr-52331d7e4f619). What should I do? It also looks like it is not syncing correctly to Mendeley online now too. I've taken a screen shot but can't seem to attach it here....

Failure to import CSL files

I am having issues importing custom CSL files into Mendeley Desktop. I originally created these citation files on my old Windows 7 laptop using Mendeley Desktop, and the citation styles worked just fine. I recently purchased a MacBook Air, and I am now running Mendeley Desktop on a Windows 8 virtual machine. I have attempted copying my CSL files into the citation styles folder as described on the Mendeley website. Mendeley is not detecting my CSL files using this method. I also attempted downloading my CSL from URLs, and Mendeley is giving me the error that "The downloaded file doesn't seem to be a CSL file." I need these files for papers I'm currently revising. If you could please provide me with a solution, I would appreciate it.

Compatibility with SoftMaker's Textmaker

Dear Mendeley Support, Recently, I purchased a licence for SoftMaker Office, partly to facilitate migration to Linux from Windows and MS Word and partly because it is an excellent software bundle, according to my experience from using it. Seemingly, the latter also applies to Mendeley, which I likewise plan switching to, as a replacement of (a rather old) Endnote package. Accordingly, there is a compatibility problem here. My straightforward question is thus: Does the Mendeley team make plans for a TextMaker plug-in, equivalent to those of LibreOffice and MS-Word? Can I link specific Word folders to specific Mendeley folders?

I would like to be able to link folders in Word to folders in Mendeley that have the same titles. For example, I have a Word folder named "Policy." I'd like to know if I can configure Mendeley to automatically import things in that folder to a folder in Mendeley with the same name. Is this doable?

mendeley stops watching folders

every couple of weeks (sometimess months) mendeley stops watching my folder. To correct this, I need to go into file : "watch folder..." submenu and enable the folder watching option (again). this is really annoying, mostly because I don't always know whether I saved my pdf in the wrong place or whether it's one of those pdf's mendeley couldn't catch the title for (mostly old articles), and I waste some time redownloading the same article until I remember this bug can occur.

Duplicated pdf in "Downloaded" file..

Hi, I have an issue with the file location where the pdf's are stored. I followed Mendeley's recommendation and imported my previous EndNote references (XML format) into Mendeley. All the pdf attached to the EN references are in a file. After importing those ref, I found a file in Mendeley Desktop called "Downloaded" with all the same pdfs and each one was duplicated... How shall I remove keep only 1 version of each pdf (instead of 3 now). Remove all references and point out the EN file? How shall I prevent Mendeley from downloading unwanted pdf's? Thank you for your help. Regards, Ervan

Different folders with SAME articles = different references in Word. Why?

Hey Everyone! In the context of my grad school degree, I have been writing my thesis, chapter by chapter. Unfortunately, I have made, 5 folders in my Mendeley Desktop. What was an attempt at staying organized, turned out worse than planned. When I started duplicating my references from one folder to the other, so that each folder may be a stand-alone file, different references emerged... At the time I did not know that Mendeley, doesn't filter for identical references but rather, treats them as different and even updates the numbering when they come from different folders! What seems to happen is that Mendeley treats each reference as a different one possibly because the same reference is being output into the same WORD document, yet coming from different folders in Mendeley desktop such as: (McDonald, 2001a), (McDonald, 2001b), (McDonald, 2001c), every time I add the reference in the same document… Dumb me, now I have copies of each document across different folders… Does anyone know how to get rid of the a,b,c for duplicate entries, without affecting the folders in which the references come from? I just want ONE (McDonald, 2001) if that makes sense. Thanks!

Ordering groups of refererencs in the middle of a document in chronological order

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to order groups of references in chronological order. I am using the Nature Cardiology Reviews citation style in Microsoft Word 2010. I do NOT want to order all references in an article by chronological order. Instead, say I have a group of references in the middle of an article, numbers 55-71 for example. These references consist of a number of articles published anywhere between 1940 and 2013. However in the bibliography, from a date perspective they are listed randomly, with an article published in 2002 coming before one published in 1946, followed by 2013, etc. This is obviously because when selecting these articles to reference from mendeley, I have not, at the time, paid attention to which came first as this would be too cumbersome to do. Now I want to know if there is any way of reordering this group chronologically automatically, without having to manually add each article again in chronological order, which would take a significant amount of time? Best wishes, Nabeel.

Your software is very unusable

I installed it with a thought of saving time, but now its turns out to be opposite. I have lost links to 1200+ files with annotations. And the sync feature is the most unpredictable one. When are you going to fix these? I think, I need to find alternative and move on..

Page numbers in bibliography

Im struggling with this particular problem for a while now. Im writing an article in ACS style where i refer to the same book multiple times but with different page numbers. according to a answer in a previous question this should work by adding the page information to the particular citation. (http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/896131-how-to-do-multiple-citations-of-different-pages-in-the-same-work) I should be able to use the CLS editor to get this working. I've been trying a lot, but i cant get the style to work. when I set the pages variable the page numbers as given in the file information are used. When i use the locator variable nothing is displayed. And please don't start by saying I should use the inline references, because I can not, the Journal style demands the page numbers in the bibliography. I really do not want to go back to endnote, but if Mendeley cant handle this, I guess I have to.

I have recently been having a problem with the Word Plugin, and am now unable to add references to documents. Prior to the last couple of weeks, this was working fine. I have tried uninstalling the plugin, and have just uninstalled Mendeley desktop and reinstalled. However, at the top just below the menu bar, I get the message "There was a problem setting up Word plugin communication: The address is protected". If I try to add references in Word, I get other error messages: "Mendeley desktop is already running but may not be responding..." and "Unable to start Mendeley Desktop automatically: unable to send HTTP request to /MendeleyDesktopInfo. Try starting Mendeley manually..." Any advice gratefully received Jem

Quick way to improve citation recognition

I find that when I allow the program to detect the citation information by reading the imported PDF, that there is relatively poor acquisition overall. I have several hundred papers and don't really feel like manually going through to edit them. Any suggestions for a quicker method to more reliably import the correct citation information?

Hi, I've been trying to run the sync to update my library with some web citations I've recently added. Every time I try to do so, it gets stuck ad the "retrieving annotations" stage and errors out with the following: An unknown error has occurred, Mendeley has been notified. (EID: merr-5237592ce10a3) Network Error Message: 'Error downloading ... server replied: Server Error' Let me know if there's anything I can do on my end to fix this, but it seems like something on the Mendeley server side!
