I am using Windows 8 and I cannot get the Desktop to login (successfully logged in online).
I tried 1.9.2 and it gave me error messages about socket operations timing out.
I googled it and apparently version 1.7 works well with Windows 8 and so I installed that instead. Now I just get a general error that says to contact Mendeley. Others in my office have no trouble getting on.

retrieving papers and all
1) import pdf situated on hardrive
2) enter name, of publication , date, and more
3) click on sync
4) result I lost all my work.
5) I don't know while Mendeley missing link with paper, because on my medeley folder witch contains all my paper in folders, all pdf are here, In mendeley application pictogram indicate sometimes link is broken ,sometimes no pictogram appears. and all papers are on my folder mendeley. (try tidy up to relink but it's not working, so bad) Very boring.....

I am importing web documents using web importer application but. Though it shows the documents in my mendeley desktop i couldn't open them. Please help me why this is happening

Import bibliography
Mendeley seems to have errors in the way it makes APA bibliographies (in terms of formatting).
The biggest issue is uppercase/lower case lettering.Is there a way to force the "Create Bibliography" tool to create the proper upper/lowercase lettering without manually going through all of my library and changing all the necessary letters?
I did check the other "same kind of" question posted in 2012, and I'm wondering if you did fix this issue or if there is an easiest way instead to change the csl coding... I have to say that I do not understand much about programing...

How can I migrate my data from one PC to another with different PC-account names?
Details: I did my previous postdoc in one university, and I had the account name “Maxim” there. The new university has a different account-system, and the new account name is “mn4”. The both computers are PCs with Windows 7. On my old PC in the first uni I had all the pdfs in one watched folder. Only a small part of my PDFs were synced with my Mendeley account because of the online-memory constraints. I have a copy of my old watched folder, and a database file “nesterovml@gmail.com@www.mendeley.com.sqlite”.
What would be the best way to proceed with the migration? The manual reassignment of pdfs to mendeley records is definitely not an option because of a high number of PDFs.
Another question is how to migrate the library from PC to Mac in my case?
I read the online article “How can I migrate my data from one PC to another?” located at http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/articles/227942-how-can-i-migrate-my-data-from-one-pc-to-another- and it did not helped.

Abbreviated Journal Names no longer working
Hi there,
I am trying to get abbreviated journal names in my bibliography. I followed the instructions (open data directory, create folder called journalAbbreviations and file called default.txt etc...) and I've made sure that form="short" is specified in the cls file I'm using.
This worked for a short period of time after I first did it, but it doesn't anymore. I have tried re-creating the directory, creating a new file, updating Mendeley desktop.
Does anyone have any ideas about what could be going wrong?
I'm using the mac version 1.9.2

Edit mendeley data after inserting referance
I have created my bibliography and found that some the refs are not showing journal name and some vol number and pages. I go back to mendeley desktop and found that these are missing as displayed in the right most column. Now how can I correct all of them ?

unable to contact Mendeley Web
Hi all
everytime I launch Mendeley Desktop on my laptop it appears this message:
Unable to contact Mendeley Web. Possible reasons why this may have happened:
Your proxy settings are incorrect. Go to the Connection tab in the Mendeley Desktop's settings dialog to check or change your proxy setup.
You are connected to the Internet via a public wireless network which has a login page. Click here to open mendeley.com in your browser. Enter your login details if prompted and press 'Sync' in Mendeley Desktop to continue.
I succeed in opening Mendeley Web on my browser and logging in, but it's impossible to Sync.
Moreover, I am able to insert citation on OpenOffice, but not on Microsoft Word, and on screen appear such message:
Unable to start Mendeley Desktop automatically: Unable to send HTTP request to /mendeleyDesktopInfo (even if Mendeley Desktop is already running).
I checked my proxy settings and it seems everything ok, the same for the firewall, otherwise how could I insert citation on OpenOffice with the pc set in the same way?

Word Plugin: Edit a Bibliography?
Hi,
it happend to me twice in my last two attempts to finalize a paper, so i would like to adress the issue here.
I recently found out, that some of my citations in the bibliography are not actually quoted in the text (most likley because i edited it out by myself). the problem is, that the bibliography did not remove them, those citations still appear there and i cant edit them out manually, because e. g. IEEE-format the numbers of citations would not change. There is e. g. quote 1-5 and then say 6 is obsolte but the remaining 7...x would not come up in numbers to close the gap. Is there a possibility to edit out not cited papers?

The "Edit Citation" button does not work properly on Windows
I am using Mendeley Desktop version 1.9.2 on a HP EliteBook 2740p laptop with 8 GB of RAM and running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1.
If I click on an existing citation in a Word document (or select the entire citation) the "Insert Citation" but in changes to read "Edit Citation". This is good. However, when I click on the "Edit Citation" button, the existing citation information is not in the dialog box that appears. Instead, the content of the dialog box says: "Search by author, title or year in whiteboarding". This is exactly the same as what it displays if I click on the "Insert Citation" but when the cursor is not on an existing citation.
This means that I cannot edit an existing citation to add a page number, for instance. Instead, I have to re-create the citation from scratch.
Any thoughts on what might be the problem?

Bibtex Journal Abbreviation tweak
For MD 1.10-dev5 I am so happy to see autogeneration of the bibtex file using journal abbreviation. One tweak -- journal sections (A, B, C) are not correct. E.g.
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B
should be (http://tinyurl.com/p64q9c6)

where it gives
journal = {J. Phys. Chem. B.},
Note the extra "."
So close! This is on a Mac 10.7.5 Desktop 1.10-dev5.

bibliography
Hi I inserted citations i a word document using my laptop. Genertaed the bibliography all right. Next day dontinued to wrtie and introduce citations, this time using my desktop computer. The do in the desktop and the laptop were sinchronized by dropbox. Now, when I introduce nw citations Mendeley creates a second bibliography. Does not integrate (sort) the new references wiht the previous one.
What is happening? How can I generta only one bibliography?

Hello,
I seem to be having some trouble with citation keys. After updating the citation information for a file, it seems like the citation key does not automatically update to reflect the changes. Is there some way to do this?

PDF reader problem?
I was having so much fun organizing my existing pdfs. Afterwards, some of the articles which require title change cannot be read by the pdf reader anymore. Has this happened before? I was so happy until this happened, if this continues obviously I cannot continue using Mendeley!

Add reference(citation) information to a Document
I'am a researcher and I am used to create a tree of references/citations docs when I am studying a paper.
There are any feature in Mendeley Desktop that enable us to add "links" to other pdf inside Mendeley to have quick access using the detail/note side bar.
When I found a citation that is important in a paper, I download the reference and add it to Mendeley, Then I take a overview and write some notes and I go back to the previous paper and continue to read it.
I woukld like to have this kind of feature in Mendeley Desktop.

Unable to open Mendeley Desktop
Hi,
I seem to be experiencing a problem when opening mendeley desktop.
I submit my email address and password (they are correct) and this message appears "error message:unable to send HTTP request to /oauth/token/.
I have no problem logging into Mendeley online, it recognises my email and password instantly.
Any suggestions??

Synch error
I am still getting this: An unknown error has occurred, Mendeley has been notified. (EID: merr-523313604a03a)
I followed the suggestion of unchecking the "Use system connection settings" and restarting mendeley but no joy.
Would appreciate any advice

Hello,
I keep getting this message when I open Mendeley on my desktop. But it states that it's an "unknown error". It's when Mendeley tries gets to '76% Retrieving Annotations (0% fetched)' that it seems to crash each time. Is this a backend problem, and will it cause more problems for me down the road?

I cannot search the mendeley data base on 'library search'
Can you help? I am trying to search on the mendeley library search but I keep getting a message to say that this attempt failed and to try again. What should I do. Last time I tried (about a week ago) it worked.
