When I try to install from the Tools menu in Mendeley I get the error: "You do not have Microsoft Word 2010 installed...." I've seen the suggestions to use "MendeleyWordPlugin.exe -user-regserver" to work around this but this does not seem to make any difference. My PC in Windows 7 and 64' My Word is the basic Starter Word 2010. Is there anything I can do to get this great tool working on my version of Word? Thanks for any help. John

Can mendeley extract the references from papaers that I uploaded and enable me to use them for citing? I noticed that Mendeely recognizes the reference but I can integrate it to my document.

How can I edit all tags of the same type at once? Background: I have noticed that I have made a silly spelling mistake on one of my tags that I have used on over 200 articles. How can I correct this spelling mistake without having to individually change the tag on each article?

How to import references

I'm writing a review article for a journal and for my list of references that I want to cite, I have a word document with a list of about 50 references (for example, I'm showing how the first 3 references appear below: 1. Haffner SM, Lehto S, Ronnemaa T. Mortality from coronary heart disease in subjects with type 2 diabetes and in nondiabetic subjects with and without prior myocardial infarction. N. Engl. J. Med. 1998;339:229-234. 2. Haffner SM, Alexander CM, Cook TJ. Reduced coronary events in simvastatin-treated patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes or impaired fasting glucose levels: subgroup analyses in the Scandinavian Simvastatin Survival Study. Arch. Intern. Med. 1999;159:2661-2667. 3. Gotto AM. Lipid management in diabetic patients: lessons from prevention trials. Am. J. Med. 2002;112:19S-26S.) I don't have these actual pdf files on my computer. I want to use Mendeley to organize these references into a database file for me so I can then use the Mendeley's integrated word module to insert the correct reference numbers where I want to in the text of my article from this constructed database.

Problem with Citation key

Dear Support Team, I have a question regarding generating, display and export of Citation keys. Namely, it is written in the guidelines that Citation keys are generated automatically, however they are not displayed by default with other details about certain reference. Currently, the citation keys are visible only if I enable the Citationkey options under Tools/Option/BibTex. However, if I enable that option, the citation keys are no longer being generated automatically. Is this a bug? If not, how can I see the citation keys generated automatically without being forced to enter future ones manually? Also, could you please tell why are the Citation keys not being exported together with other reference details in xml format? Finally, when I export the reference details in Bibtex format and open the *.BIB file in supporting application, the titles are enclosed in brackets "{}". Could you please tell me how can this be avoided? Thank you in advance! All the best Luka

Short Page Numbers

Hi, I've recently started using Mendeley and it's been great so far for me. I have one small issue though. I've been trying to change the way page numbers display at the end of journal article citations in the bibliography. Instead of "20-5" I want them to appear "20-25" but it seems that whether I change the "form" under the page variable to "short" or "long", there's no difference in Microsoft Word (2007, Windows 7). The pages don't seem to change unless I change them in the citation manager directly but I do not want to have to do this for all my citations and go through them one by one. Is there an easier way to change this? Thanks!

Hi There I'm having trouble entering an "in press" article in a paper I'd like to submit. I used to be able to do this in endnote (although I'm now boycotting them as they required me to buy a new version when my windows packages were updated). Is there a way to do it? All the best Colleen

Hi, I have a set of references with no duplicates, but the Word plugin persists in referencing the same paper twice, so i end up with (for example) (Friggi-Grehiln et al 2003a) and (Friggi-Grehiln et al 2003b) at differnt points in the text, with 2 identical lines in the Reference list chris

office 2011 plugin bibliography/references display problem v1.9.2

I have used Mendeley and the Word plugin for a while with no difficulties. After updating to 1.9.1 adn now 1.9.2 I have a problem. When I open a document in word the references are in a massively expanded format and the bibiography does not show. The message {ADDIN Mendeley Bibliography CSL_Bibliography} is present in place of the bibliography. When I refresh citations the references in the text usually reformat ok but the bibliography does not show. When the document is viewed as a pdf the biblio is present. I removed and reinstalled the plugin without any benefit. My software is up to date: OSX 10.8.4 Word 2011 14.3.6 Mendeley 1.9.2 A similar problem was reported before: http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/567944-bibliography-not-displaying-properly The previously suggested alt+F9 does nothing It looks like this may be being addressed in your 1.10.3dev version? Any other suggestions? thanks for your help

When trying to sync my desktop library with my online account, process goes to 33% and then stops with the following error message: An unknown error has occurred, Mendeley has been notified. (EID: merr-5227798293262) I tried to also include the details, but Mendeley will not accept "special characters" in the description.

I just downloaded Mendeley Desktop, and the plug-in for MS Word will not install properly. I updated MS Office moments ago, trying to solve the problem. It seems that the fixes for this issue posted on the support site are all from several months ago, and I cannot tell which fix applies to the current version of Mendeley. Please advise. The system details are below, in the error message, [] mean the text of the error was my username on the machine, I edited it out for this post. Thank you. Mendeley was not working properly in the past few weeks: it was shutting down or mobilizing the processor for hours. i tried to deinstal and reinstall it but the only thing I can have now is a message saying that "Mendeley is feeling very poorly at the moment. you may wish to contact the doctors at support" whatever i choose to click next 'either Recover of Skip) gives the same results: it doesn't start and makes my processor go crazy. My computer is a 64bits Windows with intel Core i5-3320M CPU @ 2.6GHz. Can someone help? thanks in advance.

I tried to restore my local database by "help, Restore Backup". But this is not working as I expected, as the documents are restored but some pdf's are not linked & the folders are not loaded as it was in the original database. Is that normal to lose my library folders during backup restore ?? Is there any other way to restore my folders 'not mendeley web' ???
