After update to v. 1.9.2 on Mac OS X, can't use custom .csl style

After the most recent update, Mendeley desktop no longer recognizes my custom .csl file. It's still in the directory /citationStyle-1.0, but it doesn't show up in the list of options in the desktop program anymore. Now I can only use the generic styles. Any clue what's going on?

restore original folder/file structure after "organization"

I've pointed Mendeley to a folder with my entire collection of PDFs and it started "organizing" it by moving files and deleting the original folders. I have realized the problem and interrupted the process at around 60% by killing the application. How can I get my original file-folder structure back? Is there a log of the files that have been moved and their original location?

I want to see in which folder this paper is sorted

When browsing in the 'All Documents' folder, I'd like to know in which folder the file is sorted. Say there are folders 'A','B','C' in Mendeley desktop, and I put 'a' paper into folder 'A'. Later when I am at the 'All Documents', is there a way to know where 'a' paper is located? I could see folder 'A' was shaded when I click 'a' paper so I could know 'a' paper is put into 'A' but now it is not showing any change... Thank you :)

Highlighting acts on both documents contained in a single citation entry

Hi, I often have two PDFs for a particular citation entry - one for the main text and another for the supplementary information, etc. I am also using the file organizer so these documents get sorted into the same folder, with similar names e.g. 1. Butts et al. - 2007 - Temporal precision in the neural code and the timescales of natural vision(2).pdf 2. Butts et al. - 2007 - Temporal precision in the neural code and the timescales of natural vision.pdf When I highlight one article in mendeley desktop, the highlight marks appear on both documents. How do I prevent this behavior or submit a bug report? - Jon

Hello, I am trying to Sync and my Mendeley Desktop says that "Could not connect to Mendeley Web". I´ve tried to uncheck the box "Use Connection Settings, but that didn´t solve it. The message that appears now it is: "Network Error Message: 'Unable to send HTTP request to /api/members/information.xml?lastRunVersion=1.9.2&av=1.0&id=MendeleyDesktop&cv=1.9.2&l=en-GB&ins=11e06b90-2fa6-4378-9030-5aa46901e8f1&osv=Win-90'" What should I do? Thanks!

Unable to install the Microsoft Word Plugin on Mac

Hey there, I can't install MS Word Plugin: "Unable to install the Microsoft Word Plugin - Mendeley was not able to find Microsoft Word on this Mac." I have Word on my Mac. I read in a different post that word must be default program for .docx and .dot files - I don't succeed in changing this (maybe because my Word is too old? version 2004). Is there anything else I can do? I need to do references for more than 100 papers and I don't want to do this manually... Thank you!

Word document being pushed up to top of screen on MAC

Ever since using Mendeley word plug-in, my word documents are pushed to the top of my screen, and I cannot see my tool bar for those word documents. I have no way of closing my word documents, because I cannot see the buttons to close them. If I don't use the plug-in it's fine, but once I've used the plug-in the document act all weird.

Is there a way to automatically change all titles to be "sentence case" (capitalize first letter of sentence, not every word) in the titles of my articles? I chose to format in apa style, but I have to go back to the desktop for each article and manually change this. thanks

BUGS in journal abbreviations in 1.10-dev1 -- edits don't perma- save and periods auto insert

Two issues: 1- Problem with getting unwated periods in Journal Abbreviations. Don't just have either all with or all without. The "use periods" option automatically inserts them after EVERY word. Some titles have words the are should NOT have periods after them in the feild. I can edit them manually which I can use to sink in word document but... 2- ...the changes are lost once I shut down mendeley. There needs to be a way to keep the manual edits!!! This is such a pain I want to scream every time. I don't have a hour and a half to waste evertime I want to submit a change. Changes just magically disappear... Please fix these bugs!

synchronization

I use Mendeley on my Mac desktop, and have it set up to synchronize 'my library' with the cloud system. I explored accessing it from my mac laptop. I can log in just fine, and see all the papers listed. It then started 'downloading' the papers from the web! I would prefer not to duplicate all of the source files on both machines, but rather just have them on my desktop and in the cloud. When I access 'my library' from my laptop, I would prefer to only download a paper which I wanted, not the whole collection. Is this possible? Or, am I stuck having multiple synchronized copies of 'my library' on every machine that I use?

Continue where I left off

Let us say that I have number of tabs open in Mendeley. Then I close it in that situation. When I open it later on, only the main window opens. Is there any way to reopen in the same situation so that I can "Continue where I left off" (borrowing the Google Chrome settings expression)? Thanks.

Imported documents from watched folders not opening

I have the watched folders enabled, and only one folder to watch. This is where I download my PDF files. The watched folder resides in Dropbox. I also use file organiser which places my documents in Dropbox. When Mendeley imports a file from the watched folder, it does not recognise the metadata of the file and just puts it as a reference with a pdf. The name of that reference is "filename.pdf" If I try to open that pdf file, MD does nothing. If I delete the pdf, rename the MD entry to "filename" and then add the document, the document is added just fine and I can view it. Finally, if I manually add the PDF, then MD recognises the file, metadata and everything works like a charm. I didn't use to have this sort of issue in the past. Is it an issue in any of the updates? I am using Mendeley 1.9.2 and Ubuntu 12.04.

Springer DOI fails

Hello, I've noticed that there are some problems when looking for a Springer DOI, like these ones: 10.1007/978-3-642-20511-8_20 10.1007/978-3-642-28108-2_19 I know it's a known bug by looking at old threads here on the support forum, and I wish to know if there is any solution to the problem. I'm using Mendeley 1.9.2 on Linux. Thank you.

Syncing Desktop to Web

Yesterday I was having trouble syncing my Mendeley desktop to the Mendeley website in efforts to add articles to my desktop that had not added automatically from the web. The sync button was not updating my desktop, which is a different desktop than I have normally used- I have moved to a new workspace with a different monitor but same server. So I reset my desktop thus erasing what was there and allowing me to reenter my credentials (which are the same for the web and desktop). I then tried to restore a backup from yesterday to the desktop, thinking this would re-add all 1597 articles that were on the web access, and instead the program began deleting my articles from Mendeley Web. It deleted 350 articles from the web and my desktop was still empty. At this point I stopped the backup and shut down the program, planning to problem solve today. But when I came in today, somehow the desktop is now synced with all 1597 articles (which is really great actually!!) but the website is still missing 350 articles that yesterday's glitch had erased. How do I now sync my Mendeley Web library so it appears as my desktop library, which has all the data files I need. I want to make sure when I initiate syncing it will not sync my desktop library to the web library, thus erasing files I need.

Manually Edited Citations no longer update

Hi, I am using version Mendeley 1.9.2, and I manually edited references because the style was automatically, [1],[2],[5] but I needed it to be [1,2,5]. Now I have updated my entire thesis, and the mendeley software cannot update any of the manually updated fields. Is there a way to fix this without going to my old document and copying and pasting each [1],[2],[5] instance? Thanks

(BUG REPORT) Problem with urls with %

$

Mendeley desktop (linux version) seems to have a problem dealing with urls that include the "%" symbol, as for example this one: http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2011A%26A...528A.131C Here %26 is just the escape carachter for "&", as the journal in question here is A&A. The url is stored properly on the web (I can see it correctly there) but in mendeley desktop it is stored as: http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2011A%2526A...528A.131C which replaced the "%26" for "%2526", where "%25" is the escape character for "%".

same reference inserted in different ways

Hi, The same reference appears in two different versions when I insert it. It is a reference with three authors. Sometimes when I insert it, it will write all three names, while other times it will write the first author and then et al. And this is in the same document, just lines appart. Do you know what's going on? kind regards Matilde
