Visual CSL editor

When I change the American medical association style I get extra text in the inline citation that looks like code. I want to have the inline citation go from a superscripted 1 to a normal 1 in parentheses, example: (1). When I make this edit in the visual CSL editor and then save the citation style and select it, the output inline citation looks like this "span style="baseline"(1)/span". Is there a way to fix this? BTW, I had to remove some "invalid characters" that were included in the inline citation.

No response and white screen when opening MS Word 2013 with Mendeley Plugin

Hello, I just installed the Mendeley MS Word Plugin and when I started Word 2013 I first get to the page where you can select a blank sheet or any of the pre-given templates. But when I click on the blank sheet to proceed to the regular window of Word, all I get is a white window and Word stops responding. If I start it in safe mode I can open Word and when I uninstall the Plugin I can normally use the program. The issue is thus definitely caused by the Plugin. How can I solve this problem? Cheers John

Abbreviation of institutional authors

I would like to know how to have a full institutional author name in the bibliography but have it abbreviated in-text. For example United State Department of Agriculture, 2010 in the bibliography would be cited (USDA 2010). There is no straightforward way to do this in CSL editor since I can't seem to find a variable relating to whether an author is institutional or individual. Please help

I removed papers from two folders in my library not deleting them, because I wanted to keep them. They have gone to the unsorted folder. Are they still in "All documents" as well? They are plenty, so I can't check them one by one.

Field author corrupted?

Hi, When I drag and drop PDF, the field author of several articles doesn't filled well. Instead of the authors' name, I see a list of references. It is the same list that appears in all the author fields corrupted. The problem happened last week and this morning I saw a message in the status bar (below the window) telling that the authors were recovering. But, I still have the problem. Is there a solution, other than to correct it manually?

Unatended Installation

Hi folks, I'm the system administrator at the Waisman Brain Imaging Lab at UW-Madison. I'm looking for a way to script the installation of Mendeley for our lab macs. I can get the basic application installed in an unattended manner, but I need to automate installation of the Word Plugin. Because of the size of our lab, I can't send someone around to authenticate on each computer. Is there a script or HOWTO that you can direct me to? We don't give out Admin credentials to our users. If I can't automate this, I'll probably fall back to having our users use Zotero or something. Thanks for any help you can offer. Sincerely, David Thompson

Word plugin does not stay active

The Mendeley plugin for MS word 2010 does not want to stay actived on my computer. Running windows 7, latest version of mendeley (just downloaded it). In word, I can go to "more commands" etc. and check the box next to mendeley-1.11.dotm to activate it in the current session. I then get a security warning and if I acknowledge that it works for that session, but when I exit Word and restart it the plugin is inactive again. What am I doing wrong? I already tried reinstalling the plugin and ran a repair on MS word, but that didn't do anything. Hope someone can help me with this.

Multiple copies when I save an edit

Whenever I edit a pdf outside of Mendeley, e.g. highlighting, each time I save it, it creates another document in my list in Mendeley. I have some papers where I've got 5+ copies in my Mendely documents list because of the number of times I've edited them. In my windows folder only one document exists and all the 'documents' in mendeley open this same document with the most recent edits. Get's a bit difficult to follow which is the right reference to use when citing them. Any way to remove the duplicates? Thanks, Ben

Data Location

Trying to implement Mendeley at a government agency, and would like to know where the data is stored when we implement the Desktop version. Is the document stored in it's original location or copied into the software. We are also wondering if we implement the desktop version will we still be able to let our users share references without connecting to your website. Any information on the main differences of the desktop and web version would be appreciated. Thanks

Mendeley appears not to produce valid bibtex; accents are incorrectly escaped

Importing the Mendeley-produced .bib, (aside from the issues reported in http://feedback.mendeley.com/forums/4941-general/suggestions/497889-valid-bibtex-export) throws up an error message: found " at brace-depth zero in string (about a gazillion times, same error for every accent). According to stack exchange (http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/69736/warning-found-at-brace-depth-zero-in-string-tex-accents-in-bibtex-should-be) Mendeley appears to produce invalid bibtex, in that it does not, as it should, place accent commands *inside* brackets, as in J{\"{u}}rgen or the simpler: J{\"u}. Mendeley produces J\"{u}rgen, which causes warnings in BibDesk. This is another one of those kinds of (possible?) bugs that make it very hard to leave Mendeley, aka. lockin. I'm pretty unhappy about this.

Mendeley produces invalid citekeys by including accents

Provided with, e.g. D'Excelle as an author lastname, Mendeley produces a citekey including the accent, as in D'Excelle2012. I'm not entirely sure what the official Bibtex standard is, couldn't find it anywhere online, but Bibdesk throws up an error for such citekeys, and so does bibtex when run on a file with such a citekey. Maybe another bug?

Cannot connect to Mendeley

Error message reads, "There was a temporary error connecting to Mendeley. Please try again later. Details: Connection closed." Yes, 'use system settings' is unchecked. No, I'm not on a proxy or institutional network. Yes, I have IE 11 and have signed in through both the 32- and 64-bit versions. No, the problem isn't actually temporary, unless a week counts as temporary. Please, please help!

Import of large existing library from desktop to Mendeley

Hello, I am trying to import my large existing library from my desktop to Mendeley (it is the first data manager I have used). When I imported the library in bulk the data was saved in a random way so I am having to import one document at a time to ensure accuracy. Mendeley is not recognising most of my documents (or recognising them incorrectly) so I am having to add all the data manually which is very cumbersome. Is there an easier, more effective way to do this? Thank you for your help.

Swedish characters

Hi, When I generate a bibtex file using Mendeley desktop the spacing is off for the ÅÄÖåäö-characters used in Swedish. Given the (example) name: "ÅaÄbÖcådäeö, Name" Mendeley generates author = {\AA a\"{A}b\"{O}c\aa d\"{a}e\"{o}, Name}, Gives extra spacings in the output PDE-file that should not be there, each of the special characters should be wrapped into {}, and spaces in the bibentry should be removed i.e. author = {{\AA}a{\"{A}}b{\"{O}}c{\aa}d{\"{a}}e{\"{o}}, Name}, which would be the correct output. Do you think there will be a fix for this bug?

File Organiser by Library Folder

Is it possible to use the file organiser feature in Mendeley to sort your files into the same folder/collection hierarchy as they are organised in my Mendeley library? I would like to download papers into a watch folder, organise them in my Mendeley library and then have my file hierarchy mirror that (similar to how BibTeX files can be created per collection). If this is not yet possible, this would be a great feature to add. Thanks!
