Hi, I am using Mendeley desktop on Ubuntu 12.04 and thankyou for such a helpful software. I have noticed that the attached file of a some publication entries vanishes by itself. The file is there in the organized folder and I have to again add the file manually through "add file" feature. Is it a bug or due to some miss-handling? Kindly suggest. regards Prakash

Unable to automatically import files from the watchfolder

Hi! Since the past few updates I have been experiencing problems with importing files (pdf) into Mendeley. So, when I have saved a file (pdf) in the watch folder the file (pdf) does not automatically import into the unsorted file of Mendeley. I tried refreshing, undoing and clicking the watch folder again but nothing seems to help. If I manually import, the process works but is not practical. Any advise would be welcome. Soru

This feature has become jammed up, and doesn't fix itself after either restarting the program or even the computer. It was interrupted by closing of the program, and hasn't worked since. The search vortex spins forever with no results. Checked the previous help threads, and wasn't able to find a solution that fit me. No Mendeley cache directory exists in $HOME/.cache. Not getting a captcha in google scholar either. Thanks in advance.

Citations not working correctly for reports & working papers

Dear Mendeley support team, It seems to me that the citation in Word for reports and for working papers does not work properly. I am using the McGill 7th Ed. citation style and none of my report or working paper items display (in Word) the information given in the "Institution" field (as entered in Mendeley). In addition, for working paper items, the citation in Word does not consider any information entered in the Mendeley fields "Number" and "Series". Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help with this, Stefan

Importing references from bibtex

Importing references from a bibtex file (generated by IEEE explorer) do not includes the abstract, even when it is included in the file. I try several changes on the formatting of the Bib file but didn't make it to work. any clues ?

Incorrect BibTex Export

Names that contain an ø (stroked o) are not exported correctly. For example, the name "Jørgensen" will show up in the bibtex file as "J\o rgensen". This is correct TeX, but Bibtex doesn't understand TeX macros and the .bbl file contains "J\o~rgensen" - it thinks the space after \o is a legitimate space in a two-part surname. The name shows up as "Jø rgensen" in the document. The fix is to export ø as "{\o}" instead of "\o ". This problem might affect other letters, for example ł (\l).

Tidy Up Function

When I attempt to "Tidy Up" My library in the preferences dialog, Mendeley removes 9 files into the Archive directory. These files are then no longer linked to their papers. When I go back and re-link them to their respective files manually, they are imported and renamed and everything is fine. However, if I "Tidy up" again, the same 9 files are moved once again into the Archive directory. What's going on? Perhaps if I understood a little better what "Tidy Up" was doing, I could come up with a fix. I tried to rename the files before re-adding them to Mendeley thinking maybe it was the file name that was causing Tidy Up to dissociate them, but even with random names they get imported, renamed, then reassigned to Archive the first time I try to Tidy Up. What's going on here?

Need for a more specialized export and import tool

Dear Mendeley Developers, I had a problem with the import/export tool of Mendeley. I need to exchange bunch of documents with another computer. I need to exchange documents in a folder structure, e.g. under Neuroimaging root folder I have EEG, fMRI etc. folders. I want to keep these folders. I searched the forum, blog and support sites of Mendeley and I see that the only way to exchange is to use endnote, bibtex or ris by changing the location of file in it. However these tools do not keep this structure. Problem can be formulated also as transfering the folders through computers without using Mendeley web. Do you have any advice? Thank you!

I have lost pdf links to 2043 documents out of 5377

I am using 64 bit Windows 7 Professional. I have not moved my pdf files, but over the last week I have lost 2043 links out of 5377 references. The files have not moved. They remain untouched. I have tried restoring the database from a previous back-up (whose links have not been destroyed, on a machine that is not synched to the server), and the links on the new machine remain broken. If I drag and dop one of the files to Mendeley or manually add a file whose link was broken it does not restore the link. The only way of restoring the link is by deleting the existing reference in the "Files" slot, and manually re-adding it. This is impractical to do for 2043 documents. Other people who have reported this problem find that even after restoring their files, pdf links will be broken again. (1) How are these links destroyed when no files have been moved (it was working fine a few weeks ago)? (2) How can they be restored, without manually deleting entries and adding the original files again? (3) Is there a risk that more pdf links will be lost? (4) The whole point of a back-up is that it should be able to restore the prior state, why is it that the back-up does not restore broken links? I cannot recommend anyone using Mendeley until this bug/these bug(s) have been fixed. I have stopped adding any more files for my current work. I am seriously considering abandoning Mendeley completey.

Mendeley capacity

I am currently during a research project in Mendeley that may require a large number of citations with .pdf (3000-5000 citations). I would like to know if there is a maximum amount that Mendeley can handle with regards to citations with .pdf. Just want to make sure there will be enough storage to keep all the citations with .pdf files prior to continuing this project. thank you so much in advance.

Uploading Mendeley Desktop to a Microsoft Surface Tablet

I am hoping to buy a tablet (or netbook) to use for my research on the move, and, as I have found out, there are no good apps available for Mendeley on tablets. I was wondering if you knew whether Mendeley Desktop would be compatible with the 'desktop' of a Microsoft Surface tablet, which has Windows RT installed. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks, Jess

Separate annotation for multiple (supplementary) files

Hi, when I add multiple files to a document (as for example supplementart documents) I see the same line highlighted in all those files. Even if the additional document has no text on a page, I see yellow boxes on the page. Actually I thought this was working before, but it seems like annotations are shared across all documents, which makes no sense at all. The files do not even have the same file name. Am I missing something? Pascal

Rollback library

Is there any rollback facility in Mendeley. I recently installed Ubuntu Linux 13.04 as a dual boot on my Windows 7 machine. I then installed Mendeley on the Linux partition. I configured my Linux Mendeley "watched folders" to monitor my pdf library on the Windows partition. Something went wrong and my local Mendeley library was corrupted. When opening my Linux Mendeley, it synchronised the corrupted library and now my whole online library has been corrupted. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, Jade Maggs jmaggs@ori.org.za
