How do you have an organisation as an author e.g. National Geographic, without getting Geographic, N displayed?

Merging sources

Hello, I would like to merge the results of the mendeley bibliography with items stemming from words own literature database. Or an automatic generation of a bibliography out of a literature list would be convenient, this might be endnotes copied from a word text. The export to word xml was already discussed. thanks

Updating References with the DOI

When I import a large number of pdfs, Mendeley generates a first pass list of references and then starts updating with the DOI information. Great! Unfortunately, at some point, it seems to get stuck and then the only way is apparently to go in and click on the DOI manually. What a shame... it's so close to being fantastic. All it would be a way to select a bunch of entries, and click on the "Update references" option (which doesn't exist yet - unless I've missed something. Does anyone know of a non manual way to do this?

how do i vote on needed updates

When you do a search the table view changes to a useless unsortable view of citations. If you click View/Table again the table view comes back but if you try to sort on column headings you cannot. This is a MAJOR problem. I am surprised and disappointed it is not just a basic feature of Mendeley and apparently no yet solvable. I read an email thread on this that talked about voting for things that need fixing. How do I do that.

Keeping two computers in sync with only a selection of attached files.

We have two Macs with Mendeley 1.9.1 and a free 2GB account on the web. On computer A there is a database with about 600 documents with the attached files NOT synching to the web because of size restrictions (total is about 4GB). File organizer is ON and pointing to the default location. We created two new folders with a subset of all documents in each and set one of the two folders to synch with the web. After synching the files were on the web. Then we start Mendeley on the second machine. File Organizer is ON as well and pointing to the default location (the absolute path is different however, since the user name is different - by the way: is it possible to use relative paths like ~/Documents/Mendeley Desktop?). We then sync on the second machine. The attached files of the folder that is set to sync are downloaded to the second machine. Then on the first machine we set the first folder to NOT synch and synch again. The files on the web are deleted. Then we set the second folder on the first machine to synch and do a synch. Now the second batch of attached files are transferred to the web. We start the second machine and to a synch. In the database the documents in the first folder lose their connections to the corresponding attached files in the local Mendeley Desktop folder. The files themselves are still there. The files of the documents in the second folder are downloaded. Now on the first machine we turn on again synching for the first folder and turn off synching for the second folder. The attached files are synched to the web but never to the second machine. They are still available in the Mendeley Desktop folder but they are not attached to the documents in the second folder on the second computer. And we were not able to get them attached again (other than by manually attaching them). On the first computer the files are still attached to the documents in the second folder. How can we reset the synch process?

Plugin Word-No funciona

Hola. J.

After saving my report with citations using mendeley, the citation toggles fields in word to show the link every time i close MS word and I need to manually toggle fields again for each reference. How can this be solved? Is it an issue with mendeley or MS Office??

Style Guidelines are wrong

The Journal of Marketing Style guide line that you have listed is incorrect. For example, when you are adding an in-text citation of up to three authors, JM guidelines state you should list all the authors, i.e. (Cannon, Achro, and Gundlac 2000). The current JM style guideline that you have installed and listed to use list it as (Cannon et al. 2000). How can I make this change?

Files can not attached and new options can not be changed

I faced very strange problems. Some of the specific literatures can not be attaced to the item in Mendeley, even if it was attached manually, it would just be deleted by Mendeley automatically. But if a new literature was imported into mendeley, it can be saved. And the deleted documents by Mendeley seems random. Another problem for me is that I can not applied any new options for my mendeley. I changed some options and click ok, close the option window. Then I open the option menu again, I found that my changed option was not be saved. I am using Mendeley 1.9.1, win 7 64 bit Thanks

I am running version Mendeley 1.3.1 on an HP Mini netbook with HP Mobile Internet (equivalent to Ubuntu 8.04) installed. After downloading and installing Mendeley 1.9.1, the program would not start. I received the following error message(s): Unable to use Qt libraries in /usr/lib. Some components are missing: /usr/lib/libQtXmlPatterns.so.4.3.4 /usr/lib/libQtWebKit.so.4 To run Mendeley Desktop you may need to install the QtWebKit and QtSvg packages provided by your Linux distribution. /usr/bin/../../opt/mendeleydesktop/bin/mendeleydesktop: error while loading shared libraries: libpulse-mainloop-glib.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Attempting to install libqtwebkit4_2.2.1-5_i386.deb produces the error dpkg: regarding libqtwebkit4_2.2.1-5_i386.deb containing libqtwebkit4, pre-dependency problem: libqtwebkit4 pre-depends on multiarch-support multiarch-support is not installed. Is there a way to upgrade to version 1.9.1 without making extensive changes to my machine?

Reference style

Dear Sir / Madam, I am currently writing a manuscript for a journal (Journal of Applied Physiology) and I am struggling to format my bibliography to the style they want. Please see below for an example: Villalobos AR, Parmelee JT, Renfro JL. Choline uptake across the ventricular membrane of neonate rat choroid plexus. Am J Physiol Cell Physiol 276: C1288-C1296, 1999. The above citation uses an abbreviated journal name, the year published is at the end and there is no issue number also. In text references are identified using numbers but the bibliography list is ordered alphabetically. Can you help with this anyway? Thank you in advance, Matt

Moving a group without breaking link to MSWord citations

Hi, I have a private shared group that was used by my colleagues and me to write a paper in MSWord. We inserted the citations from this group. It dawned on us after-the-fact that this shared group should have simply been a subfolder of our team group. What is the best way to move these documents to a subfolder of another private shared group **without breaking the link to the citations in the MSWord document** ? Thanks. -jeff

Watched folder is being deleted by mendeley

Each time Mendeley finds a new pdf in my watched folder it imports the details into Mendeley, copies the pdf to my designated folder location but then it not only deletes the original pdf (which is fine, but apparently not normal) but also deletes the watched folder (which is not fine). Can you suggest how to turn off this feature as I can't find any option to do so. Thanks

Can't copy as formatted citation

I am no longer able to copy a formatted citation and paste it into Excel. This worked previously - but now it is not. I've used both the keyboard command and the menu command. An example of a previous result: Peachavanish, R., H. A. Karimi, B. Akinci, and F. Boukamp. 2006. Check for lost PDF link

Hi, I manually move files to sub-folders to be consistent with the collections I setup in Mendeley. (It would be great if future version of Mendeley Desktop can do this for me) The PDF links of course will be lost after the move. But simply drag&drop back the files, as suggest by (http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/495745-moving-files-and-maintaining-link), doesn't get the link back at first. Because when files are moved in Windows Explorer, Mendeley does not know the link is lost, it won't update the bad link until you try to open it. Therefore I have to try open a moved file, when Mendeley can't find the pdf and report error by showing the warning icon, then I can drag&drop the file back and get the re-link. This is really inconvenient. Can mendeley automatically check for lost links? Thanks.

Post-nominals for BibTeX export

I have some references where the author has a post-nominal (such as Jr.), is there a way to get Mendeley to output that information correctly to Bibtex? The author name should be Last name, Post-nominal, First name. However, if I enter that in the author field for Mendeley, it seems to group the last name and post-nominal together as {Last name, Post-nominal}, which leads to incorrect formatting in my document.

Importing file from Access

Hi, I have a library of references in an Microsoft Access Database and want to import them into Mendeley. I have tried exporting as an .xml file and importing into Mendeley. It says it's successfully imported, but nothing appears. Also I have an old Endnote .enl library I want to import into Mendeley, but no longer have access to Endnote to convert the file. Is there anyway to bring this file into Mendeley directly? Thanks
