Originally inserted citations linked randomly to other papers

On insert in Word I get the question „Keep Citation Edit?“ for every citation in my document. 1. I did not manually edit these citations 2. The question is something along these lines: The citation (Smith, 2012) has been manually edited. Revert to the formatted version (Parker, 1995)? The point is that the citations do not correspond. 3. When I look at the fieldcode in Word I see, that they all refer to other citations than what is visual in the document. It seems that all the inserted citations now refer to other papers, than the ones I originally inserted. The originally inserted citations now appear as if they were manually edited, which they were not. How did this happen and how can I get my originally inserted citations back? I use Mendeley 1.9.2 on MAC OS X 10.8.4 Word 2008 for MAC Version 12.3.6 Thanks for your help Sabin
