Running Mendeley Desktop on a standalone computer

I would like to use Mendeley to manage bibliography information and downloaded papers on a desktop without any net connection. I have downloaded and installed the Mendeley and transfered its datebase to the C:\Documents and Settings\«My Name»\Local Settings\Application Data\Mendeley Ltd\Mendeley Desktop\ folder (Windows XP) from an Internet-equipped machine. But the welcome screen still appears demanding to enter my e-mail and password, and when I did says: "An error occured when contacting Mendeley. Details: Host not found. Check your connection settings. If the problem persists, please contact support." What can I do else to force Mendeley Desktop to run? And is it possible to use word citation plugin on such machine? Thanks in advance.
