extended attributes not preserved on import

I use Skim (http://skim-app.sourceforge.net/) to make highlights on my PDF files. This software uses extended file attributes to store this metadata. Certain filesystems support it (OS X HFS+ does). When importing these PDFs into Mendeley, I noticed the attributes are not preserved and I lose access to that data. Could this feature be added for certain platforms? In other words, if it is detected that a filesystem with such xattr support is being used to store the Mendeley PDFs, preserve the attributes upon import. Perhaps an option could be added to the preferences to indicate whether to turn this on or off. Such attributes might also be stored for files in the Personal Web Space, too? That way, moving files to/from multiple platforms would not cause them to be lost (e.g. using the software on multiple clients, Windows and OS X simultaneously). Thanks, Alex
