Hi,
I have a problem with the inline citation. Et al. should be used if there are 4 authors or more. The first couple of times it worke out. But now without changing anything. Mendely starts to make et al. as soon as there are 3 Authors.
Because i have to use my own citation style i post my settings for et al usage:
I you opne the inline ciation author macro then click on names and the on name there you can choose the et al minimum which I set on 4
What am I doing wrong?

Mendeley 1.11 & MS Word 2010,
I have installed Mendeley 1.11 into a fresh new laptop and MS Word 2010,
I can’t seems to get the Mendeley ribbon to appear. The installed button from the Mendeley Desktop was successfully.
I also try to check on Word Option (where we able to view and manage MS Office Add-ins), unfortunately, can’t locate Mendeley.
But, when I head to this C:\Users\Hazman\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP and run Mendeley-1.11.dotm - Shortcut.. The ribbon appeared.
Please advise how can I get my Mendeley ribbon works from a normal WS word installation.

Cannot get In Text Citation is Correct Order
I am using the Water Science and Technology style which should give in-text citations in order of year of publication, not author last name ie. (Wade, Calderon, et al., 2006; Stewart, Gast, et al., 2008). The in text citations are put in order of last name in word and I tried going into CSL editor but on there the setting I want is shown as already being a part of the style. I know I can manually edit one by one but is there a way to fix the style so it's actually correct.

Word plugin 'Insert or Edit Citation' in ribbon
I have a Apple Mac and have installed Mendeley successfully. I have downloaded the word plugin successfully, however, when I click on the 'Insert or Edit Citation' in ribbon, the window no longer pops up. It did at first but when I clicked on 'go to Mendeley' in the window pop-up, nothing happened. The apple coloured wheel turned around for 5 minutes. What am I doing wrong?

Error converting citations to text
I'm done with my manuscript, now I want to convert all citations to text to correct some mistakes (e.g. Mendeley for some reasons abbreviates a book title like it is a journal title, although the citation is marked "book"). However, I get an error message: "Command failed (4198)" and can't the conversion through. Please help?

I often experience a mismatch between the PDF file I want to import into Mendeley Desktop, and the file that I see when I then open the imported PDF. Sometimes, the file that I wanted to import and the file that gets created in Menedeley Desktop are not the same. This happens no matter whether I add the file per drag-and-drop or via the "add file" dropdown, whether I change the name of the original file, or change folders etc. This means that I cannot add that file to Menedeley Desktop. Nevertheless, a correct new PDF gets created in my Mendeley folder on my harddisk. Only the match in Menedeley Desktop is wrong. I have found no way so far to correct the matching and appreciate your advice on this (I am happy to send you the log file).

The macro cant be opened (5981)in microsoft word"

Mendeley Desktop 1.11 and Word Plugin for Mac
I am having issues with the Word plugin since I downloaded the Mendeley Desktop 1.11 (I am running MAC OS 10.8.5). The Word Plugin will not allow me to edit or insert new citations in manuscripts that I had composed with the prior version of the program. The Plugin will provide this error message:
"Problem formatting citation #2
Problem updating citation: (Faleiro et al.,[etc.])
You can fix this citation by removing and re-inserting it.
If the problem persists, please get in touch with http://www.mendeley.com /contact-support."
Then it gives this prompt:
"Remove citation field?
There was a problem updating Mendeley citation #2
Do you want to remove this citation?
with buttons for yes or no."
If I choose yes or no, the same error message appears again with the same citation listed (Faleiro et al).
Also, when I close MS Word, sometimes it will ask if I want to save changes to "Mendeley.dot". However, this message has not popped up recently so I am not sure if it is actually related.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the Word plugin and then Mendeley Desktop, yet the same problem persists.

varying citation styles in MS Word
I need both long and short citations in the chapter endnotes of my book. The first of several references to a single source needs to be in long (Chicago 16) form; subsequent references to the same source are to be in short form. This is especially important because many of the endnotes wont be citations at all but quotations from interviews etc; citations will be interspersed.
If this must be done manually, how exactly should I go about the process, to save myself from fumbling about dangerously?

extended attributes not preserved on import
I use Skim (http://skim-app.sourceforge.net/) to make highlights on my PDF files. This software uses extended file attributes to store this metadata. Certain filesystems support it (OS X HFS+ does). When importing these PDFs into Mendeley, I noticed the attributes are not preserved and I lose access to that data.
Could this feature be added for certain platforms? In other words, if it is detected that a filesystem with such xattr support is being used to store the Mendeley PDFs, preserve the attributes upon import. Perhaps an option could be added to the preferences to indicate whether to turn this on or off. Such attributes might also be stored for files in the Personal Web Space, too? That way, moving files to/from multiple platforms would not cause them to be lost (e.g. using the software on multiple clients, Windows and OS X simultaneously).
