Hi When I back up (via Help--Create backup), does it back up all the highlighting and notes I put on the PDFs themselves, as well as citation information I entered manually? Thanks.

Import references from Endnote incomplete

I have a library in Endnote consisting of almost 2000 references. I wish to import these references into Mendeley. I do this by exporting the references and saving an xml file and importing this xml file in mendeley. However, by doing so, I seem to 'lose' 30 references. Instead of showing the 1967 references I exported, Mendeley only shows 1937 references. How can I ensure all references are imported correctly?

I am unable to access the following shared folder with Micah Shippee. I've attached the email information provided to me by Micah, the folder creator. Tiffany, I created a Private (Invite-Only) Group in Mendeley: "Tiffany and Micah's AT" for you to see my references (many of them have the PDF's uploaded). I hope you find it helpful, I'd love to see/use anything you believe worthwhile as well. micah ps this link should bring you directly to the group once you log in: http://www.mendeley.com/groups/4617241/_/

et al and the use of a comma

Dear Sir / Madam, I feel I am fairly competent with the use of the CSL editor but I can not find a way to omit the use of comma when et al. is in use for inline references. I currently have: (Blogs et al., 2014) but I would like: (Blogs et al. 2014) It is important that the comma stays there for references that are like the following: (Blogs & Blogs, 2014). The link to my reference style is below: http://csl.mendeley.com/styles/17215201/the-journal-of-physiology-4 Thank you, Matt

I would like to search all entries against a book names "The Book". I have tried searching using 'Book: The Book' but it doesn't seem to work.... It would be very useful to be able to search using all the available fields....

Viewing location changes when switching between libarary and a document

Is there a way to keep the viewing location within a document static when switching between the document and the library? Here is what I'm doing: - I am viewing the references in an article - I switch to the library to see if I have one of the references - I switch back to the original article, but it has scrolled up in the document a page or two - I then scroll down to the references, and repeat the above sequence I would like to have the viewing location remain where I was viewing when I switch back and forth. Thanks

"Organize my files" does not move the initial file set

Hello, I recently installed Mendeley (1.11) on a Windows 7 machine and after it downloaded my synchonized files I went into Options/File Organizer and selected a directory to copy files to (and clicked "Organize my files"). Now new files that are added (e.g. from a watched folder) are indeed copied to that directory. Unfortunately, all the original files are still stuck in the original default directory which, even more unfortunately, is on my small SSD drive. I tried "Tidy Up" but am obviously missing something. How do I get Mendeley to move the files from the old (default) location to my new specified location?

Citation keys not generated in Mendeley 1.11

I have a problem with citation keys: I generally link all the references form the NASA ADS website and I had no problems before. Lately, though, I get an empty field for the citation key. I don't know if this is because of the desktop app, the way I import it (mostly the extension in Chrome, although I also used a link directly on a journal site and this didn't generate the link either) or something else. I find it annoying to add these manually. I found citation keys in the preferences, but it says just that they are automatically generated...

setting for "recent added".

Dear Mendeley team, How can I clean up the items shown in "Recently added"? I am doing literature review, and now there are up to 100 items in my "Recently added". After I imported the papers, I moved them to different Mendeley folders. Now I want to clean up the "Recently Added", because it is too crowded, and it makes no difference between the "All document" and the "Recently added". If I press "Delete" in the "Recently Added", the paper in the Mendeley is also deleted. I don't want that. Thanks a lot.

View entire citation while writing

Is there any way to view an entire citation while I'm writing and not only a number? For example, I'm writing my thesis (way too extensive) and I inserted a citation that is represented by a number (e.g. (3)) and after two hours I can't remember which paper was number 3. I know that I can insert the whole bibliography, but I'm wondering if there is an easier way to do it. Thank you.

Is there any chance to see all highlights in the document I have done? I would like to see the list of highlights in the folder in the format: Author1 "highlighted part 1" "highlighted part 2" Author2 "highlighted part 1" "highlighted part 2" "highlighted part 3" Is it possible?

Automatic export of annotations for use in DocEar (or other)

Hi I've come to love Mendeley for simple reading and annotation. Now I've discovered DocEar which would improve my knowledge post-processing greatly, but requires constant access to my existing annotations. I've read your recommendation to export annotated PDFs (1). This however is a very cumbersome workflow, especially if you iterate between reading/annotating (Mendeley) and compiling (DocEar)(2). My question: Do you plan to improve on this situation? Would you be willing to cooperate with the DocEar team to find a mutually beneficial solution? Best regards [1] http://blog.mendeley.com/tipstricks/how-to-series-how-to-export-your-annotations-alone-or-with-your-pdf-part-8-of-12/ [2] http://www.docear.org/faqs/how-to-migrate-from-mendeley-to-docear/

Export to bib - Entry gets an odd name.

I have an entry in my Library that get exported in bib file like this: @article{tt:content/article/10.1680/iicep.1964.10112, author = {Davenport, A G}, journal = {ICE Proceedings}, number = {Volume 28, Issue 2}, pages = {187--196(9)}, title = {{Note on the distribution of the largest vaue of a random function with application to gust loading}}, url = {http://www.icevirtuallibrary.com/content/article/10.1680/iicep.1964.10112}, volume = {28}, year = {1964} } As you can see the "name" in the bib file for the entry is "tt:content/article/10.1680/iicep.1964.10112" while i would expect something like Davenport1964. This is extremely boring since every time I add a new entry and I want to update the bib file, I need to manually correct this. Is there a way to tell mendeley which name assign to a given entry? Thank you very much, bye

Hi, I have just started using the Mendeley plug in for MS Word. Is there a way of seeing how many sources I have cited in a document without creating a bibliography?

Solution in CSL editor for how to add suffixes to author name in APA 6th edition format?

$

There have been previous questions on the forum regarding Mendeley's support for author suffixes like Jr. and Sr. However, they seem to result in a "fix in CLS editor" answer. See the two examples below: 1. http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/835795-how-to-add-suffixes-to-author-name-in-aps-6th-edition-format- 2. http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/893302-name-suffixes-jr-sr- Unfortunately, as a novice in Mendeley this isn't that helpful and investing the time to learn the editor doesn't seem like a solid investment at this stage for me. So is there anyone out there that has successfully implemented a fix in the CLS editor who could either share the updated APA 6th edition style or post some detailed instructions on how it's done?
