i wanted to group them, for example (Coalter, 2007a; 2007b)
i managed to group them, but it appears like "(Coalter, 2007a, 2007b)"
not "(Coalter, 2007a; 2007b)"
i can i change the , into ; ?

How to make the (on disk) folder structure deal sensibly with Patents?
I use the folder structure:
Journal / Author / Filename.pdf
It is working fairly well, but recently I've been adding patents and notice that EVERY patent is showing up as a different journal with folder name given by the patent number.
Worse, this behaviour seems to be because the folder structure uses the "Journal" metadata, even though the "Journal" field is hidden when the document type is changed to "Patent"!!
This isn't very useful! As far as I'm concerned, the 'Journal' of all US Patents is the same. I'm going to be adding tens or hundreds of the darn things, and it'll swamp the directory structure.
Do I have to change the document type for each patent, edit the 'Journal' field, and then change it back? Or is there any way to make Mendeley automatically group patents into a single journal?

Annonated files not syncing across devices
Hi - I'm using Mendeley on an iMac and MacAir. I've restarted the apps and they're both updated. However, I'm getting an error message when I try and sync them. Same happens if I try and save annotations in my Mendeley Desktop folder.

Group pictures not working. (Question mark images) - 1.12 dev2
Hello there,
currently testing 1.12 dev 2, and all pictures are not showing in groups. Profile pictures and the main group image are all with blue exclamation marks, except for the default one, from people who haven't changed theirs.
Any idea why this might be happening? Thanks a lot in advance.
Using windows 7 here.

The Synchronize button is inactive. I added several files and folders but I can't upload the changes. They do not appear in Mendeley Web.

import of large xml - different outcomes
Hello!
Me and my colleagues are working on a review with a literature search that has resulted in a xml file of 3500+ results. When importing the xml file to our respective Mendeley Desktops we get slightly differing results on the numbers of imported references (the numbers between us 3 colleagues differ +- 20 references), which makes us unsure about the reliability of the reference list.
How is this problem resolved in the best way?

Synching library on Mac and PC
I have added some documents on my Mendeley desktop on PC yesterday, but I don't see them on my Mendeley desktop on my Mac. I don't even find them on my Mendeley web library. I have synched a few times manually but I still don't see them. How can I fix this?

.pdf download
Hello,
several times when I save a citaion to Mendeley, it does not include also the .pdf even of I have access to it.
From Science Direct I can save the .pdf from selecting "Mendeley" as a reference manager (shall this work also with the "Save to Mendeley" button?) but from ACS websites (where such menu for selecting the preferred reference manager is missing) by pressing the import to Mendeley button the .pdf is not saved to my library.
How to solve this?

Mac: mendeley does not open
Hello.
i just reponed mendely today and it does not open at all.
The icon keep bouncing for a while than stops and it's not open, no error are displayed.
any idea how i can trace the error or shat's the problem?

Mendeley for Mac 1.11 Can't Insert Citations in Word

2 questions: Changing a reference to et. al in Word and DOI in Reference list in Word
Good day,
Question #1: Is there someway that I can make it automatic in word that when a reference has more than two authors, it cites the reference as "et al."? It appears to do it sometimes, yet not all the time? Does this have to do with the length of the author's names?
Question #2: Sometimes when you automatically download an article into your mendeley database, the DOI # is brought along as well. When I create the reference list in word, is there a way to exclude this number appearing in your reference list for ALL the references (as opposed to manually deleting each one)?

Rotating PDFs correctly
Often I use Mendeley's rotate function to try to view tables that are printed sideways. However, when I rotate the pages, I am rarely, if ever, looking at the same page as I was before I rotated. Right now I'm reading a document and wanting to read a table on page 765. When I rotate, I'm looking at page 772. 772 is full of text, and is sideways. Frequently I can't tell what page I'm on and whether I need to go up or down to see the page I wanted to look at. I know other PDF viewers, like PDF XChange adjust when you rotate the page so you are still looking at the page you were at when you rotated. Is there a setting I can change to make this happen in Mendeley?

Reference list
I am trying to finish my document off with a reference list and when I try to insert a bibliography, works cited or reference list I get a message saying: 'there are no sources in the current document'.
All the citations were inserted via Mendeley, of course, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unable to edit merged citations on mac
I'm unable to remove/edit citations that have been merged. I'm working on a very large document and need to remove a number of citations to trim it down. The document was created on a PC but I'm now working on a mac. When I try to remove a citation that has been merged with others using the "Insert or Edit Citation" option on the Mendeley tool bar, everything seems fine. I get a list of the merged citations in the citation editor window. However, when I delete the citation that I no longer want, I get "Problem formatting citation #8" and the suggestion to reenter the citations manually. Is there a fix for this? Given the size of the document and the number of citations that need editing this could take days. Thanks

Can I connect the article file in word?
Hello I have a question about mendeley and microsoft word.
So I am working on writing my manuscript and sometimes I want to open the article that I cited in my manuscript.
and my questions is can I open the article file that I cited in microsoft word without finding the article in mendeley desktop? Like open the file by simply clicking the reference in reference lists in microsoft word.
I wonder I can do that because when I use endnote, I always use that.

1. Open 'All documents'
2. Hide 'Document details' pane by pressing the arrow
3. Open any document in the built-in viewer
4. Close the document
5. BUG: the 'Document details' is shown again
