inserting citation
I have been using Menedley desktop over he past week or so without problem. Today I can add new files into the programme, however when I try to add citations or make changes from within word Mendeley does not respond, like it is not getting the request, and no text box opens. The same for the other options within word such as choose citation style, or insert bibliography. Nothing happens.
Any help is very much appreciated, I have a dissertation deadline this week!

Hello
I'm having a bit of a problem finding my custom styles. I had a computer crash issue, which led to needing to reinstall windows etc. I'm trying to access the customedited styles I made some time ago, but cant find out how to get their urls?
I remember seeing that custom styles are stored with my account (http://www.mendeley.com/release-notes/v1_7/) but for the life of me i cant see where?
please help. as usual, am under the gun wrt time pressure...
Many thanks

PDF Viewer
I just added about 10 PDFs to my library, and cannot view any of them. The "open file" option is greyed out when I right-click. I went back to some of the databases that I used to make sure I used the PDF, and I had. I tried to re-download them using the "import to Mendeley" plug-in, but it still isn't working. I've used Mendeley seamlessly before and loved it- I'd love to keep using it!

Very slow search function
I am using mendeley desktop on Win7 and I have a database of about 700 references. I find that Mendeley is extremely slow is searching through my files.
Even when I specify to search for an author or title, still the search is very slow.
Is there something I am doing wrong, or I can do for Mendeley to perform searches faster?

Mendeley will not open similar file
I have two versions of a book that is currently being written. I have an old version on Mendeley, and I would like to have the new version as well. When I try to open the new version on Mendeley, my focus changes to the Mendeley application, an item appears and then rapidly disappears on the all documents list. The old version remains, but the new version is not there. Why?

moving documents on disk
Hi,
I've added documents from my local folder structure to Mendeley desktop and added notes to some of them within Mendeley.
When I move a document on disk to another folder, the document (and notes!) disappear in Mendeley. Is this expected behavior?
I've tried turning on Tools|Options|File Organizer|Copy Files to. This does create a copy, but still the document disappears in Mendeley when I move the original document.

allow addition to library of items having the same metadata
I imported an article and its supplementary data into my library. Mendeley automatically assigned the same metadata to both files. I removed these documents from my library and subsequent attempts to reintroduce the items result in addition of only one file. I believe this is the result of a filter that scans for whether a file with the same metadata is already present in the folder into which one is attempting to import, and rejects files with identical metadata to preclude introduction of duplicates. I have tried importing items sequentially with modification of the metadata but this does not circumvent the import restriction. Can the putative filter be disabled or is there another approach by which I can reintroduce said files into my library? Thank you.

I cannot get metadata at all & Google Scholar doesn't stop searching
I drugged my PDF files into Mendeley, but any information of the paper don't appear at all.
Then I tried to "search by title", google scholar didn't stop searching and gave me any answer.
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Advanced search and fulltext search
Is there a way to use a search query in Mendeley Desktop using field names together with fulltext search in the pdf documents? This does not seem to work?
Example:
tag:exampletag searchterm
The significance of such an option is if you want to use tags instead of folders (or subfolders, which many users would like to have). I love the idea and think this is where it should go - to really use it though a tag+fulltext search would be important.
Thank you!

References lost
Hi,
I am currently working on finalizing my paper, which contains more than 200 references. I have two computers (both Mac) and work from both. Unfortunately, the links to my Mendeley references have been lost after I sent the document from one pc to the other. I do still have the bibliography and the references in the text, but they are not linked to Mendeley anymore, and I can't update them either.
Could you please help me out? It will take me half a day to re-enter them again...
Thanks!

Error installing Mendeley MS Word Plugin
This is on OSX 10.8.3 (Swedish), Microsoft Word 2011 12.3.4 and Mendeley Desktop 1.8.4.
When trying to install the MS Word plugin the installer throws an error:
Unable to install the Microsoft Word Plugin
Error 1 compiling the Word plugins.
Executed: osacompile -o /Users/marcus/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/Word Script Menu Items/Mendeley/Show Mendeley Toolbar.scpt -c MNDL -d -t osas .
I located the Show Mendeley Toolbar.AppleScript in the Mendeley pkg and tried opening it with Apple Script Editor. That caused another error message (translated from Swedish):
"Open dictionary. Could not load dictionary for an application or plugin because it is not script adapted." (I might be way off on some of that translation).
Manually opening the dictionary for Microsoft Word from within Apple Script Editor works well though.
Trying to compile the "Show Mendeley Toolbar.AppleScript" file throws a compilation error that seems to be related to the failure to open the dictionary, the "command bar" part is not recognized.
When starting Word after the installation I get another error message: "Compile error in hidden module: Mendeley". Trying to use the Mendeley toolbar in Word does absolutely nothing.
Any suggestions? I have tried a complete uninstall/install/upgrade cycle of Microsoft Office with reboots and disk repair/repair permissions between each step. Still the same result with Mendeley.

Mendeley plugin doesn't appear in Office 2010 Home and Student
Hello everyone!
I have already used Mendeley plugin in Office 2010 Professional Plus but now I have got a new one as mentioned in subject.
When I click to install Mendeley plugin in Mendeley Desktop 1.8.4, it is shown a dialog informing that the plugin was installed successfully, but, when I open Word 2010, it shows nothing.
What can I do to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

A file attached to a document entitled 'Selected papers' is larger than the maximum file size of 50M
Hello,
I have an document in my research journal folder that is larger than 50MB. Every time I open Mendeley I get the following message:
"A file attached to a document entitled 'Selected papers' is larger than the maximum file size of 50MB and has not been synced."
I would like to somehow turn off syncing for this document. I tried selecting the "exclude from Mendeley Web Catalog" option but that doesn't seem to work.
In the log file, I get the following error: Error Type: FILESIZELIMITEXCEEDED
Is it possible to turn off syncing for this item?

how to cite archive sources
Hi,
I imported my references from my RefWorks account and the library had several references of Archive sources. In Mendeley they are all filed under Type as General and Type of Work as misc. The data that I had in Refworks contained box number and document number for each of these. That information is missing. Instead I have a bunch of duplicates with same Author and same Title but no box or document numbers.
I want to be able to input this information manually now but there is no category for Archive Source in Mendeley and even though there is a Manuscript category within the citation style I'm using that I could possibly use for this, Manuscript does not appear as one of the Types that I could assign to these records.
How do I do this? I want to be able to use the MLA Manuscript category because the citation style already has categories that I could use to cite box and document numbers for each source.
thanks.

Mendeley doesn't start offline
I had been using Mendeley just fine until recently. I have a large database of pdf files on my computer that Mendeley has organized for me, with a lot of associated metadata (authors, journals, etc.)
Now I'm moving all of this to a new computer at work, which has no internet access. I can't start Mendeley, because it requires me to log in on the website.
I already tried this: http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/111454-offline-work
but it isn't working.
I need some help! Otherwise all the time I have spent organizing these pdf files with Mendeley will be wasted!
