Importing Folders of pdfs to Mendeley

I have a directory of nested folders, each containing pdfs. In Mendeley desktop, both the "Getting Started" drag and drop import, and the import option from the menu, allow me to select individual pdfs but not folders. How can I import everything at once? (Mac OSX).
