A question of this nature was asked already, but I would like further clarification.
My Mendley Desktop set-up:
I have a single folder in my document folder on my computer that contains the entirety of my pdf and djvu files that Mendeley Desktop watches and another folder that is on my dropbox that Mendeley Desktop renames and organises. I do not have sub-folders.
What I want do:
After reformatting my Mac hard drive and re-installing MENDELEY Desktop, I would like my set-up, including the metadata, highlighting, notes, and links to the underlying files to be exactly the same. I consider it to be a tragedy if I have to search for and re-enter the metadata for my files. Once again, I want the single folder that contains all my files to be in the same location on my hard drive and I want the "files" in Mendeley Desktop to be linked to files in this folder.
Tools at my disposal:
-I have recently upgraded to a Mendeley pro account and I am in the process of syncing my library, along with the files.
-I have an external hard drive where I can put the single folder containing my files and any other files or folders that are necessary.
What I would like from you:
How do I achieve what I would like to do in the simplest way possible. If it cannot be done, what is my next best option?
Thank you.
