I've been experiencing serious delays and failures when trying to use arxiv/doi IDs for the paper look-ups, since earlier versions of the Mendeley desktop. I'm now using 1.10-dev5 and the problem persists. I have no problem exploring the web and the connections to arxiv/doi are very efficient through browsers.
In typical cases, eventually (after perhaps 5~10 trials) I will get the data retrieved. However, this annoys me a lot since it costs sometimes more than 5min to wait. Any idea why this happens? I'm happy to perform tests on the connection of the desktop software if you let me know how.
