Yesterday I was having trouble syncing my Mendeley desktop to the Mendeley website in efforts to add articles to my desktop that had not added automatically from the web. The sync button was not updating my desktop, which is a different desktop than I have normally used- I have moved to a new workspace with a different monitor but same server. So I reset my desktop thus erasing what was there and allowing me to reenter my credentials (which are the same for the web and desktop). I then tried to restore a backup from yesterday to the desktop, thinking this would re-add all 1597 articles that were on the web access, and instead the program began deleting my articles from Mendeley Web. It deleted 350 articles from the web and my desktop was still empty.
At this point I stopped the backup and shut down the program, planning to problem solve today. But when I came in today, somehow the desktop is now synced with all 1597 articles (which is really great actually!!) but the website is still missing 350 articles that yesterday's glitch had erased.
How do I now sync my Mendeley Web library so it appears as my desktop library, which has all the data files I need. I want to make sure when I initiate syncing it will not sync my desktop library to the web library, thus erasing files I need.
