I have a few quite extensive databases in Reference Manager and am trying to import them into Mendeley. RIS would be the transfer format of choice if Reference Manger didn't mangle all non-ASCII characters (ä, ö, étc.).
Those characters are exported correctly only in Endnote Tagged Format and Reference Manager XML. With the latter, import into Mendeley works fine except for the document type: All references are attributed a "Generic" type in Mendeley, while the actual document type is stored in a field named "Type of work".
Is there any way to transfer the data without this flaw?
