Mendely v1.11
I copied my "Files Organizer" archive from one computer to another and installed Mendeley on the new computer. Is there some way for Mendeley to recognize that all the files are there, rather than downloading each one from my online archive?
If I 'add folder', to add the copied archive, it seems that about half of the files are actually copied and linked correctly. If I then sync, Mendeley begins to upload some new file information or something like that, for several files. I cancel this operation because I am afraid it is damaging my database. There is nothing to upload, just copy and link the files.
If instead I copy the copied archive into the new Files Organizer folder, mendeley does not recognize them, but downloads each file and renames the file that is already there (exactly the same file) so that I get two copies of every file.
I guess I am looking for a simple recipe. I realize that there are several similar questions. But, perhaps it is simply not possible.
