Editing the number of authors inline

I have a similar issue to the one posted here: http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/915467-editing-the-number-of-authors-inline I'm trying to use the Biotechnology and Bioengineering citation style. Even though the inline citations 'et-al-min' was set to 3 by default, the author list was not abbreviated when citations were inserted. For example, instead of (Kostelecky et al, 2006), I got (Kostelecky, Pohl, Vogel, Schilling, & Meyer-klaucke, 2006). The author list was abbreviated when there are five or more authors in the list. Please advise, thank you.
