So I've seen this question asked for previous versions, but now I have had the issue for the first time since updating to Mendeley 1.11.
After being away from work on medical leave and not using Mendeley for a year, I opened it up earlier this week and updated it to the latest version when prompted. After I did that, my files were no longer linked to the references in the program. The icon showing an attached PDF file is gone (i.e. no icon, not even one for a broken link). The only files I now have properly linked to their references are the new ones added from my watched folder in the past few days
My PDFs are all still stored in the same folder they have always been in, organized by the Mendeley file organizer. The only thing I don't use is the web synchronization, because I don't have enough space and don't want to pay for an upgraded account (poor grad student here). It also seems that the only library backup I have is the one created immediately after the upgrade. Please advise as I don't want to manually re-add all the files to their respective references.
Can I just "Add folder" and hope that all the files sync with their references instead of creating duplicates? I don't really want to lose my highlights and notes, either.
