Hi
I am trying to import a ref (from .bib or .ris) of a paper, where I have already a similar ref in Mendeley. Similar here means that the refs might share same fields (same author, same title, etc) but have fields with different values (in my case: first is working paper, second is published one).
However, when I try to import, Mendeley does actually keep the old version... even if I deleted the old version!! Seems there is a cache mechanism, and Mendeley tries to be smart by comparing versions and thinking it's the same?
Steps:
1. Import any .bib/.ris file
2. Remove it in Mendeley
3. Make a slight modification in Mendeley, say add one to one author's name
4. (re)import modified ref
result: mendeley still keeps old version!
Note this won't happen if you change all authors names, in case Mendeley will corecctly import new ref, otherwise if make partial change, will keep old version!
This happens on mendeley Desktop 1.11, on Ubuntu 12.04.
Thanks
