Add WMCLASS to desktop file in linux

In order to have a unified icon for application and windows in gnome-shell dash, I had to set the VMCLASS in the desktop file. But the application write over the desktop file in .local/share/applications. I added the line StartupWMClass=mendeleydesktop.x86_64 in /opt/mendeleydesktop/bin/install-mendeley-link-handler.sh and it seems to solve the issue. Is it possible to add it in the installer to avoid this at every update ? Thanks I'm using mendeleydesktop 1.11 on archlinux 64 bit up to date, with gnome 3.10.
