Mendeley does not install the icon when being compiled on Linux. I am running Mepis 12, based on Debian Stable.
A solution was posted here:
http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/567246-linux-mendeley-does-not-install-icons
But although the diagnosis is correct, the solution does not apply, at least, for my installation.
Mendeley is installed in
~/.local/share where there is a binary to execute Mendeley, and further down in ~/.local/share/applications where there is another binary to execute Mendeley. Other Mendeley folders are in ~/.local/share/data/Mendeley Ltd.
But in all of these directories, there is no Mendeley logo, nor a folder with images... So I see no place to put the icon in. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated, as it is not very pleasant to have a generic gear icon on the desktop.
