I'm out of the country and do not have regular internet access. I've been annotating my articles in Mendeley desktop with highlights and notes. I got a chance to hook up to a wireless connection and went to sync my annotations with my web account. Mendeley crashed and deleted all the annotations made prior to day, while the edits I made during this session were saved. That's about two weeks of readings completely stripped of annotations. Why did this happen? I thought syncing was to back up my pdfs and annotations on my web account? Did the Mendeley web overwrite Mendeley desktop?
