I've had to reinstall windows 8 (then upgrade to 8.1) due to a computer crash and am trying to reinstate where I was with Mendeley before the crash. I have a backup copy of the Mendeley Ltd folder from Users\MyName\AppData\Local and have all the associated pdfs sitting in a folder structure that reproduces how it was before my computer crashed.
How can I install Mendeley and get it to recognise my previous setup? My references data was uploaded to my online Mendeley library but it seems not all the pdfs were uploaded there too - or at least they are not there now. So it doesn't look like i can just install Mendeley afresh and expect it all to be downloaded from the web site.
I have tried to install and it successfully captures all the reference data from the website. It also downloads some PDFs, but not very many. Far fewer than I had set up before. If I connected it to a "watch folder" with the PDFs in this results in masses of duplicates appearing in the database.
I've managed to get everything else back from my backups after my crash - just not Mendeley stuff.
