connection times out when tryting to connect online

Computer setup: Windows 7 ultimate, firefox 26. no IE installed Problem: I migrated to windows 7 from XP. everything used to work fine. Now I get a connection error "an error occured when contacting Mendeley. Details: Unable to send HTTP request to /oauth/token/(0)" unsuccessful fix attempts: I can access my account on mendeley.com (both http and https) using firefox. I tried unchecking "use system connection settings" but it didn't fix it Here is the output of the "test internet connection" tool. Any help will be appreciated.
